WAIT FOR IT!
When the Promise Tarries but the Faith Still Breathes
A Sacred Note for the Who Is She Movement by Dr. Verlyn Fontaine Waterman
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
(Hebrews 11:1)
When All You Have Left is Waiting
You’ve prayed.
You’ve fasted.
You’ve knocked, hoped, spoken, sown—And still… nothing.
Doors slammed shut.
Answers never came.
People disappeared when you needed them most.
Everything you need stands tall in front of you,
But nothing moves.
And now, with head bowed low and hands cast down,
your heart aches, your breath is shallow, and your strength is thin.
But still… some part of you whispers:
Wait for it.
What Is “It”?
For one woman, it’s healing from pain no one else sees.
For another, it’s provision when the cupboards are bare.
For someone else, it’s restoration of dignity, of home, of wholeness.
And for you—it might be the thing you stopped naming out loud because the ache was too much.
“It” is the promise.
The vision. The breakthrough. The answered prayer.
The evidence of all you’ve believed but haven’t yet held.
Still Breathing? Then You’re Still Believing
You may wonder: Am I even still breathing?
You are.
And that breath is not just oxygen—it’s prophetic proof.
It says:
I’m still here
I still believe
I still wait
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them…” (Psalm 34:17)
You are not forgotten. You are not invisible. You are being refined in sacred stillness.
Now Faith Is
“Now faith is…” — Hebrews 11:1
Not future faith.
Not “one day when everything aligns” faith.
Now.
This moment.
While it still hurts.
While the tears still fall.
While there’s no sign on the horizon.
Faith isn’t just for miracles. It’s what holds you together before they come.
Is There a “There”?
Yes.
There is a “There.” A place where what God spoke over you becomes what you walk in.
But to get there, you must pass through:
Delay
Obscurity
Preparation
Crushing
Silence
“Though it tarry, wait for it… it will surely come.” (Habakkuk 2:3)
Your “It” is not lost. Your “It” is maturing in the waiting.
You’re Not Falling Apart — You’re Falling Into Alignment
Everything in your life may feel like it’s breaking, but beloved:
You are not being destroyed. You are being remade.
The storm is not evidence of God’s absence. It’s a sign of your approaching transition.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap—if we do not faint.” (Galatians 6:9)
Don’t faint.
Don’t surrender the promise.
Don’t give up now.
Final Encouragement: Breathe Again and Wait
Wait for it.
Even if you’re waiting in tears.
Even if you’re waiting in silence.
Even if you’re waiting with nothing left but breath in your lungs and fire in your spirit.
Wait with hope. Wait with expectation. Wait knowing He has not forgotten.
You may not know when it’s coming…But you know Who is sending it.
And because He is faithful—“It” is on the way.
